Pflege, für Freund*innen da sein, daran denken, den Müll rauszubringen, und so weiter und so fort: Die Liste von Care-Arbeit nimmt kein Ende. Auf Wertschätzung dieser Arbeiten kann meistens mehr als lange gewartet werden. Alles, was in den Bereich von Care-Arbeit fällt, wird abgewertet – und die theoretischen Grundlagen dessen werden auch in emanzipatorischen Kontexten gerne mal unter den Tisch fallen gelassen.
Um die feministische Theorie zu Care-Arbeit und ihre praktischen Implikationen mehr in den Fokus zu setzen, soll gerade diese Abwertung und historische Beispiele derer behandelt werden, um anschließend auf aktuelle Entwicklungen eingehen zu können. Die Schlagworte Care-Crisis und Self-Care setzen hierbei die Orientierungspunkte. Zwischen gesundheitsschädlichen Self-Care-Trends, Tradwives und den Zuständen in der Pflege oder auch in der sozialen Arbeit erfolgt eine Analyse der Verzahnung von Kapitalismus, Sexismus, Rassismus und Queerfeindlichkeit. Ob alter Hase oder Neuling, es ist für alle etwas dabei!
Jordan Rant hat sich intensiv mit Care-Arbeit im Kontext feministischer Theorie (und Praxis) beschäftigt und schätzt ein gutes pop-kulturelles Beispiel. Their sonstige Interessen liegen in den Bereichen Antisemitismusforschung, Kritische Theorie und der extremen Rechten. Zwischen journalistischer Arbeit und Übersetzungen hält they Vorträge und Workshops zu diesen und weiteren Themen.

Nursing, being there for friends, remembering to take out the garbage, and so on and so forth: the list of care work is never-ending. There is usually more than a long wait for this work to be appreciated. Everything that falls within the realm of care work is devalued – and the theoretical foundations of this are also often ignored in emancipatory contexts.
In order to focus more on the feminist theory of care work and its practical implications, this devaluation and historical examples of it will be discussed. Current events can then be addressed. The keywords care crisis and self-care provide the points of reference here. Between self-care trends that are harmful to health, tradwives and the conditions in care or social work, an analysis of the interlocking of capitalism, sexism, racism and queer hostility is carried out. Whether you’re an old hand or a newcomer, there’s something for everyone!
Jordan Rant has worked intensively on care work in the context of feminist theory (and practice) and appreciates a good pop-cultural example. Their other interests lie in the fields of antisemitism research, critical theory and the extreme right. Between journalistic work and translations, they gives lectures and workshops on these and other topics.
